Just checking in with a couple of tips.  Currently hooked on The Walkmen's latest: You and Me.  (also previous band Johnathon Fire*Eater sound promising).

And have just finished re-reading (again) James Ellroy's American Tabloid...pulp at its bloody pulpiest.
