went to see that shutter island the other night.  I hate criticising Scorsese as he's a top 5 hero of mine - so I won't start here.   Not one of his classics (I don't think there's been one of those since Casino) but a totally watchable bit of "mainstream" suspense. 7.5/10

Four Tet: An Apology



In all that recent top 10 albums of the decade kerfuffle, I somehow overlooked four tet's mighty Rounds.  Am currently really enjoying his latest There is Love in you. And that's that.

After the disappointment of a cancelled flight to amsterdam on friday (thanks easyjet) leaving Muxloe flying solo in the city (word is that he coped) and me grounded in Madrid, I watched a couple of films up for Best Picture Oscars:



Up in the Air

Not quite sure how this has been nominated, nor for that matter Clooney and the actress that looks like Heather Mills. It was enjoyable, but ultimately pointless. 6.5/10

The Hurt Locker

This is the bomb! Terrible pun, great film, with great performaces from three guys I've never seen before.  8/10

on....The Road



Went to see that The Road last night, enjoyed it  - although I can see how it could depress the bejeesus out of people.  It looked great, in a that's how I suppose the end of the world would look like kind of way.  Viggo Mortenson was as rugged and reliable as ever, his son equally good, Omar popped up and Guy Pearce took the acting honours with about 6 lines of dialogue.  A tough watch, but worth it and no doubt contains some deeper messages that i haven't processed yet.  7.5/10
