DO

Sometimes, when you’re playing Super Mario 3 you think to yourself, “Why the fuck am I wasting so much of my life on this shit?” Then you see him finally getting some pussy and it all seems worth it.

Top Ten

My I-pod's on the blink, a bad time any time, but particularly as I have a week's holiday in Morocco next  week (sweet). A friend has kindly offered to lend me their mp3 player and given me the space to upload 10 albums of my choosing.  My early list of current most listened to albums are all very similar, any recommendations to shake it up a little bit would be welcome. in a word, what are you listening to right now people?

Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight

The Walkmen - You & Me

The Morning Benders - Talking through Tin Cans

Dr. Dog - Fate

Local Natives - Gorilla Manor

Four Tet - There is Love in You

Animal Collective - merriweather post pavillion

The National - Boxer?

Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde?

Chris Rock - Live??

Ahh London

For the first time in a long while I actually felt a bit homesick looking at this video of the  South Bank (probably my favourite bit of London)

(another chimpomatic tip-off)

Sound Theory Book Club: Engleby

I read Sebastian Faulks' Birdsong a while ago and thought it was brilliant, a few years later I read Charlotte Gray and thought it was alright, and then I read On Green Dolphin Street and thought it was rubbish.  So when I was lent Engleby, I wasn't really sure what to expect.  Well, it was a right good read, finished just inside a week (currently in my fourth year of trying to finish off To Kill a Mockingbird in Spanish) - the eponymous narrator reminded me of Holden Caulfield or The Outsider.  Highly recommended. 4/5

Pena Vindio-Sotileza

Last saturday's rousing 4-4 draw marked the end of a record breaking season for my 7 a-side footy team.  This season's table on the left (21 points from 16 games).  If we can keep our star players (Lipe upfront. Big Diego - Captain - centre-half) and hold onto some of the bigger names (of which Francisco Jose San Román Leñero is undoubtedly one) we could be pushing for Europe next year.

Control

Watched that Control the other day, about the life and premature death of Ian Curtis.  I didn't really know that much about Joy Division or the music (which sounds really good here) or that the circumstances that lead to Curtis' suicide wer so un rock n roll.  Really good. 8/10
